April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) started her musical journey as a 7th grader when she took piano and guitar classes. In April, when she was 12 years old when she wrote her first single, Different. At 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing songs and honed her music abilities. The following months, she began taking notes with her father to LA and NY. April featured other topics in her hit song, Take my Hand. These topics were for friends that dealt issues like peer pressure, and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thinking. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer who has a growing number of followers. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, as well as being a lifestyle expert. As a woman born with no left hand, she is a major part of her. It's however not the entire tale. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on her Instagram account, but she isn't making it the focal point of it. What message does it convey? The message? We are all multifaceted, and that our physical and identity self aren't as they appear. Lockhart tells Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance will define my character. I don't intend to be an influencer on disability, because I've many more things to contribute." My everyday life isn't directly affected by disability. I go about my regular daily life, and come up with myself solutions for problems. It's a big aspect of my existence, so it is important that we talk about it. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that will last a lifetime, but she has been a source of inspiration in this regard. Even so, Lockhart admits that she has had periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance, and the clothes which displayed her arms. She wears what she likes and proudly posts pictures of herself wearing the clothes she chooses on social media. What makes self-love so appealing to her is that it's not an end destination. This is true for everyone, no matter what their levels of anxiety. I believe that it's really essential to surround yourself with people who can see and know your true heart.
